With the Jeep JK steering gears being pushed to the point of failure due to the increased torque loads of larger tire sizes, larger axles and locking differentials, the time has come for a larger steering gear. Well it is here! PSC Motorsports went back to the drawing board and re-engineered a new direct bolt-in high torque/heavy-duty replacement steering gear for all Jeep JK applications. The new JK XD steering gear replaces the 70mm stock piston with a larger 80mm piston, giving it more turning torque to turn up to 37 inch tall tires without the need of cylinder assist. More material was added to the case in all mounting for sturdier base. Sector shaft diameter is increased from 35mm to 42mm for a 35 percent increase in strength. The JK-HD kit comes with a new factory drop pitman arm, nut and washer to match the newer larger sector shaft. Anyone with a Jeep JK running bigger than factory tires will want this bolt on upgrade on their must have list.
What a difference this gear box makes can’t believe I didn’t upgrade it sooner.
This Thing is heavy..... Exactly what I needed to deal with some of the issues of adding larger tires on a jeep. Well built, worked perfectly.
Q: Is this a direct fit do I need to purchase anything else. Answer this question
A: Yes it is a complete direct replacement everything is included and this gearbox is a lot better than stock.Â

A: Direct fit use hardware provided with kit. Definitely worth the purchase. My stock steering box failed on a blazing hot day. I also went ahead and put in a new power steering pump at the same time. Power steering pump is super easy. Make sure you have a helper for the steering box as it’s awkward and super heavy during the install under the Jeep. Also I’d only run Swepco 715 power steering /hydraulic oil only. You will definitely love and notice the difference. Handles 37’s aired down on the trail with ease let alone better handling on the streets.

Q: I have replaced the original steering box in my JK 2009 with the PSC SG685 without any problem, but I feel the steering very soft, I don't have to do any effort at all to turn both sides. Is there any way to regulate the steering box to make it harder ? Answer this question
A: No - this is designed to be a more powerful system. Most people complain the stock box is too hard with oversize tires.
