The Poison Spyder Hood Louver helps keep your engine running cool by promoting airflow through the engine compartment. Many factors can contribute to high under-hood temperatures, which can translate to higher engine coolant temperatures and overheating. Headers, slow speeds, flex fans, and the cramped spaces of the engine compartment can all contribute to increased heat and reduced airflow. This Hood Louver kit frees up airflow through the engine compartment, allowing hot air to escape and cooler air to be drawn in through the radiator, improving cooling of both the engine coolant and under-hood air. Rock-crawlers and slow-moving vehicles are especially susceptible, as slower speeds naturally result in reduced airflow. Poison Spyder Hood Louvers are crafted from quality, thick gauge aluminum sheet. They are CNC laser-cut and precision die-stamped. Aluminum makes the hood louver both light weight and corrosion resistant. But its thick enough to add some rigidity to the Jeep's notoriously thin sheet metal hood, helping to reduce "hood wobble" at speeds. Hood Louvers are fairly easy to install but do require some drilling and cutting of your hood. Stainless steel fasteners are supplied, as well as a full-size template with instructions for cutting the airflow holes in the hood.
Allows all the heat under the hood to escape.
Simple enough DIY, just take your time.

I have a 97 TJ and the one that is the suggested one to buy for my year was not correct with the washer nozzle hole. I only have a single nozzle in the center the one that's suppose to be the right fit had two off to the sides.

Should have done it sooner
The Poison Spyder Hood Louver for Jeeps is an add on that I should have gotten sooner. Detailed instructions and easy to use template made the heinous act of cutting a perfectly good Jeep hood, somewhat painless (other than self inflicted pokes). I recommend this to anyone wanting to vent the excessive waste heat from the engine bay. And as others have said, it looks awesome.

Great appearance and functionality!
Installation began after the initial anxiety of cutting up a perfectly good hood subsided. It's an easy install with the provided instructions and template. The template was spot on, but the center hood support was not perfectly centered, which resulted in the need to cut through another layer of steel. There is a possibility that light from your headlights will emit light through the louvers onto your windshield. The sealed beam Sylvania Silverstars did this. I recently upgraded to some Hella H4 headlights and this issue went away.
I know some people are reluctant to install this for fear that water will get into the engine compartment. A monsoon rain storm hit the day after I installed this and dowsed us with over an inch of rain. Zero issues. I have no regrets installing this.
