The 3/16" (.188" thick) top plate and bottom plate provide far superior protection against dents and bends than the stock cross member, which is made of a piece of 1/8" (.125" thick) and 14-gauge (.083" thick) stamped sheet metal.
So easy to install, and much sturdier than the stock cross-member (which I may or may-not have bent!) :D , and it was a great price! Can't wait to try her out!
Great product, quick and easy replacement for stock tin foil cross member. Wheeled hard for 8 years, it was time. Biggest challenge was filing mushroom topped bolts so sockets would fit. Once all skid plate and frame bolts were off, perfect fit. Painted it with several coats of rust reformer. Install may have realigned my clutch and transfer case. Shifting issue disappeared!
I have not installed the crossmember, however it does look beefed up.
