JL Crawler™ Series Rear Bumpers combine tough off-road performance with cutting edge styling in a full featured premium bumper. Fabricated entirely of high strength 3/16" plate steel, special proprietary tooling gives these bumpers their signature large-radius bends and die-formed corner features. Crawler rear bumpers are compatible with Poison Spyder's Frame Mounted Tire Carrier, which may be added later without exchanging or modifying the bumper. Features include an integrated class III tow hitch, extreme duty recovery shackle tabs, recessed mounts for LED cube lights, and semi-gloss black SpyderShell™ Armor Coat finish.
The Crawler™ Rear Bumper's outer shell is constructed of CNC laser cut, brake-formed 3/16" high strength plate steel. Large radius bends and die-formed corner details flow well with the styling cues of the Jeep Wrangler. The Crawler™ Rear Bumper can be mounted without cutting or altering the Jeep's frame rails.
Crawler™ Series Rear Bumpers are compatible with Poison Spyder's Frame Mounted Tire Carrier, or may be used along with the Jeep's original tailgate-mounted spare tire carrier. The PSC Frame Mounted Tire Carrier may be added at a later date, without requiring further modifications to the Crawler™ bumper. This provides an easy upgrade path for Jeep owners who would prefer to upgrade their bumper first, and the tire carrier at a later date. Note that the stock spare tire carrier, when used with the Crawler™ Rear Bumper, can fit up to a 33" spare tire.
These Extreme Duty Recovery Shackle Tabs are CNC machined from 1" thick steel billet, and pass through the shell of the bumper and are welded on both sides. These tabs are specifically designed to accept Poison Spyder's Heavy Duty 3/4" Recovery Shackles. These tabs are designed to match the high clearance aspects of the rest of the bumper and minimized hang-ups.
The integrated tow hitch receiver accepts standard 2" hitches and recovery accessories. It is structurally integrated into to the design of the Crawler™ Rear Bumper in order to provide a higher clearance, tougher hitch that's there when you need it, but tucked up higher out of the way for better clearance and departure angles on the trail. The hitch has been designed to exceed class III hitch specifications. Includes integrated safety chain loops.
Crawler™ Series Rear Bumpers feature recessed light buckets for installing 2-1/2" Round, Clear LED Lamps (sold separately). The recessed buckets protect them from the rocks and direct light rearward rather than into the bumper interior, the way some competitor's bracket-mounted lamps do. Customers may choose to wire them into the reverse light circuit, or wire them to a separate dash switch as a loading or utility light.
SpyderShell™ is more than just powder coating—it's a complete system that includes the state of the art in preparation, application, materials and packaging to ensure that your SpyderShell™ products stay looking great for years. The SpyderShell™ process has been engineered to provide your Poison Spyder product with years of unmatched great looks, corrosion protection and weather-resistance. Our proprietary 6-stage system starts with media blasting the entire part, to remove contaminants and prep the metal surface for the best possible adhesion. Next, any seams are sealed with 3M Scotch-Weld to block moisture from entering and causing corrosion where the powder cannot reach. The first coat to be applied is a zinc-rich powdered black primer, which is baked on to form an impenetrable bond between the metal product and the coating. The primer is black--rather than traditional gray--so that any rock chips or trail damage are less conspicuous. The final top coat is an industrial grade, "super-durable" architectural finish in semi-gloss black, which is engineered to retain its appearance through years of exposure to sun and weather. SpyderShell is a coating process unmatched by any other Jeep armor aftermarket manufacturer, for which we are confident in offering a 5-year warranty on materials and workmanship.
Awesome bumper. Pretty straight forward install. Only reason I gave it 4 stars instead of 5 was because I had to replace some of the hardware. The 2 bolts going into the bottom of the bumper on the passenger side are just barely too short and should have flat washers along with the provided lock washers. Do yourself a favor and stop at the hardware store and replace these 2 provided bolts with similar bolts that are about a 1/4 to 1/2 inch longer and get some flat washers for them. Other than that the fit and finish is amazing. The spydershell coating is awesome and durable. I dropped the bumper on accident onto concrete and only a little scratch was the result. Didn’t penetrate or cause the coating to come off at all.
