Unmatched quality, high-tech design and superior durability. The Congo Cage features easy installation with common tools. The high-strength steel Congo Cage is constructed from round 1.625 diameter tubing and can support up to 500 pounds. Hinged rear mounts & easy-release front mounts provide convenient soft top removal and installation. Great for hauling canoes, kayaks, lumber and pipes when used with the optional Congo Cage Utility Crossbars. Supertough black polyester powder coat finish provides lasting protection.
Instructions did not come with unit, downloaded from internet. Some washers and one bolt missing. Solid unit. Expected noise as I have a truck with a rack on it so I thought I was prepared. Unit howls at about 30 MPH but does fade into mostly normal wind noise at higher speeds. So around town it is very annoying

Fitting - Some of the holes in the tube(s) did not line up.
Silicon the entire male tube section not just the joints this will reduce rattles.
Droning noise during high speed.
Need to supply a license holder bracket, as constructed it won't fully rotate.

Decent, not sure if the best
Bought the cage with the cross bars so I could use a thule roofbox and put my kayak up top while still being able to flip the roof (see below).
Pros: it has a good weight limit rating, and appears fairly study after a year of use but i'm not sure it could handle what it's rated at (500 lbs, which i'd never try anyways) as you are supposed to attach the back brackets just by bolting through the sheet metal of the rear panel, while the front connection is very sturdy.
not too noisy like some other racks. Cross bars are adjustable to pretty much any distance apart to fit your load.
It came with all parts and instructions needed and installation was reasonably simple
Cons: Bought it so I could flip my soft top up and down without needing to touch the cage (which national4wd assured me i could do) but actually I need to dismount the front contacts to do that and then prop up the whole cage which is quite the hassle (here in calgary with nice days but frequent afternoon thundershowers i need to flip the soft top up for half an hour most days may through july) especially when you have a load up top. In solution to this i had to buy a bestop bikini top (which isnt wide enough to fit my door surrounds, but that's another problem in itself).
The front contacts are extremely difficult to work when threading the bolts, they rarely seem thread properly i have no idea why,but it takes several tries, and is especially difficult when trying to do yourself because the front bars are wider than they should be so you have to apply A LOT of force in order to squeeze the second side tight enough to thread the bolt straight. A five to ten minute task now takes three times the length. Due to the poor threading i am very concerned about wearing out the threads so now i only do it twice a year, once to take the hardtop off in spring and once to put it back on in fall, so i have to suffer through poor variable weather with an awfully performing bikini top.
can't say i have too much experience with other roof rack systems so it's hard to recommend either this product or another. the only other one i've used is on my brother's JK so not applicable. If you need a roof cage it is sturdy, it does the job, is not too expensive like some models, but if want want to routinely flip the soft top up and down i would look elsewhere.

Solid and stable
As others have noted, the instructions aren't the best, but fortunately it's not too difficult to figure out. Some of the steps referred to other/older models and you just have to make some easy to figure out adjustments. There is no mention at all of the included prop rod, but again it's assembly and use is not too tough to figure out. Took about 1 1/2 hours to install, no modifications were needed. I did it by myself, but you could use a 2nd person to help put the cage in place. The unit is very solid and stable, and the hinged rear brackets make it easy to move out of the way to get my ragtop off. They could use a better method of releasing the front braces besides unbolting them. I bought mine to carry a canoe or my cargo carrier, works fine for both.

These brackets were easy to use and install on my KM rack. The only thing I have to complain about is that I don't understand why these "adapters" aren't the the primary brackets for the rack kit. Other than that though, the brackets secured my rack to the the rack frame.

Good Rack. Terrible assembly
I put this rack on a 2012 JKU 4 door. I'm a sportsman and spend a lot of time kayaking, hunting and fishing. It is a strong, sturdy rack but for the price the directions were TERRIBLE. Not that it was difficult to figure it out but for the money I shouldn't have had to use a hammer more than once in order to get the parts to fit together.
Will this work with the smittybilt atlas rear bumper?

Yes, the Kargo Master Congo Cage Rack Mount Part Number: KAR50351 will fit that bumper. However, you will need to drill a few holes for mounting. Thank you.

I have a Yakima bike rack and a Yakima snowboard rack on my car but am hoping to swap it all over to the 2012 Jeep Wrangler Sahara unlimited. Would these be compatible with this rack? And do they make a kayak rack as well?
