The Hi-Lift Trail Trak System deserves 5 stars, but the installation deserves less than none. I would not classify this as a novice DIY, but here are a few tips that will hopefully save your Sunday afternoon. At the point the instructions tell you to mark the center of the tape by measuring the exposed face of the roll bar... good luck. I found it better to hold a level perpendicular to the outside of the roll bar, and measure from the edge in to 1-1/16”. Use Cobalt drill bits only. Start at 1/16 or 3/32” and work your way up to 3/8”... 1/32” at a time. Step bit is fine, but be sure it’s cobalt. Test fit your rivnut BEFORE drilling to 25/64”, and only drill the holes that the rivnut clearly won’t fit into. Use plenty of drilling oil, and lay down a towel when drilling. The hardened steel shards are hot and could damage your vehicle’s interior. DO NOT use the bolt and hollow nut combo the instructions tell you to use to collapse the rivnuts. This is where I feel HI-Lift failed. Instead, use YT and search how to PROPERLY secure rivnuts using a bolt, REGULAR nut, and a washer. Sorry Hi-Lift, but somewhere in your shop, an engineer or fabricator is smiling and saying, “told you so”. I like the finished product. It’s built like a tank, and it looks great. The flexibility is good too. Yes, you must remove the jack to get the soft top up and down, but that’s fine for me. However, I can’t get over the disparity between the simplistic instructions and the reality of the process.
Fit perfectly, nice and tight even if it’s not for Tacoma. Installed with 48” jack in bed of 2020 Tacoma even with the snug top and factory adjustable tie downs.
4x4 Wheel Parts installed my HL Jack by driver side and did a great job. They were very professional and completed in a timely manner. I am very happy and will definitely go back.
Installed in 1983 CJ-7. Worked perfectly, even with the hard top on.
I have used this mount to secure my jack to the headack rack on my flat bed ram.
Mounted my Hi-Lift jack perfectly above wheel well in the bed of my ram 1500 4X with camper shell. Still lots of room to sleep in the back or haul materials. Been off road and it’s a solid mount. Did my research and this was best for me. Would recommend to anyone with this style of jack hi-lift or not. I bought carriage bolts that fit perfectly in the rectangular holes for a smoother look and I preferred nylock nuts. Be safe out there and have fun! USA
This mounting kit is nice and easy to install. Back is not in the way of the wiper fluid which I was concerned about.

Q: Can you run the 2 gallon rotopax in the out board orientation with the hard top on? Is it accesible to remove and reinstall the can? Answer this question
A: Hello San_du75, It may be able to squeeze in to the hard top, but it does not seem practical to have it in the outer position with a hardtop on. It seems that it would be a pain to get to the RotoPAX. I doubt the can would be removable even. You can easily have it in the inner position and it would work perfectly. It is also designed to not obstruct your view while driving.

Q: Will this product work on a 2019 Ram Truck with similar bed rails? Answer this question
A: these were for a Jeep gladiator and fit my 2020 Tacoma just fine. The point I was worried about is where the post sticks off of the back of the mount because the plane of the bed side in relation to the rail mount looked different from the Gladiator. this worked just fine and is solid. The only thing I had to do was only mount the jack in 1 way with the handle up and base toward the back. then it has about 1/4" of clearance to the wheelwell.

Q: How big of a rotopax can you fit if you mount it on the outside of the roll cage? Nearest the window. Answer this question
A: 2 gallon is the largest that will fit in the outboard orientation due to the soft top window. If you are not running windows or you have the universal hub mounted inboard of the roll cage, the 3 gallon will work. We do not recommend using any larger, in any configuration, due to the weight.
