The Goodyear Wrangler MTR With Kevlar tire has an asymmetrical tread design and the DuPont Kevlar reinforced sidewalls promises to be a contender in the hot MT tire market. Goodyear says using Kevlar increases sidewall toughness and puncture resistance by 35 percent. It also helps reinforce the sidewall for on-pavement driving. The asymmetrical tread design looks directional, but Goodyear says the tires are NOT directional, can run either way and have been tested that way. For those who don't like white lettering, the new MTR with Kevlar might disappoint, as many sizes will have white outline lettering. That means white outline letters out, ready to be scraped into white sidewalls by rocks. The larger sizes up to 42 inches, will have black lettering, so that will be fine. The silica tread compound enhances wet traction and the durometer seems to be between the old MTR and the sticky comp tires Goodyear has built. The rubber feels soft and supple when doing the old twist and fingernail tread test (scientific test procedure). The Goodyear MTR with Kevlar is a very competent tire and worthy descendent of the Wrangler MT and MTR.

60,000 plus so far

I bought these tires because of the Kevlar sidewalls. I airdown between 5 and 8 lbs when offroading and these tires never once slipped off the rim, the sidewalls have taken a beating and are still holding up. My Jeep is a daily driver (at least 60 miles a day) and I have put over 60,000 miles on these tires and the wear has been great. I keep tire pressure @ 26lbs and rotate every oil change.

Goodyear Wrangler MT/R with Kevlar tires

The tires are above average, offroad. They have great grip on and offroad. The tires did wear more quickly than I thought they would. I've put about 25,000 miles on two of them. At this point, I will need to replace them pretty soon. It would have been nice to get to 30,000 miles. I don't know if my experience with them is unique or average. I haven't noticed many other people with these specific tires around here.

Not happy

I have gone through 8 tires so far to get 5 good ones. Even those aren't balancing very good.

Good Year MTR with Kevlar

These MTR tires look and run great. They grip the road and are pretty quiet compared to other brands I have run before. I would recommend these tires to others.

Good Year MTR

These tires realy look sharp. They grip the road great in mud and snow. I put them on one night in the dark and ran them in the snow the very next day.I would recommed these tires to friends. To early to tell on the tread ware.

Nice tire!

This is my daily driver that sees trail time a few weekends a month. Does not grip in mud like a Super Swamper but wears a lot better and is fairly quiet for a M/T
