The Goodyear Wrangler MTR With Kevlar tire has an asymmetrical tread design and the DuPont Kevlar reinforced sidewalls promises to be a contender in the hot MT tire market. Goodyear says using Kevlar increases sidewall toughness and puncture resistance by 35 percent. It also helps reinforce the sidewall for on-pavement driving. The asymmetrical tread design looks directional, but Goodyear says the tires are NOT directional, can run either way and have been tested that way. For those who don't like white lettering, the new MTR with Kevlar might disappoint, as many sizes will have white outline lettering. That means white outline letters out, ready to be scraped into white sidewalls by rocks. The larger sizes up to 42 inches, will have black lettering, so that will be fine. The silica tread compound enhances wet traction and the durometer seems to be between the old MTR and the sticky comp tires Goodyear has built. The rubber feels soft and supple when doing the old twist and fingernail tread test (scientific test procedure). The Goodyear MTR with Kevlar is a very competent tire and worthy descendent of the Wrangler MT and MTR.
Watch the sidewalls around tree roots and fallen branches. I've punctured 2 of the older style without Kevlar and 1 with Kevlar. 2 in one day, even! This was on trails in Big Bear, CA.
I've also gotten 2 punctures from nails.
I also get a nasty "Bronco death wobble" at 35MPH when the tread gets low, but this is mostly resolved by re-balancing the tires.
Great daily-driver tires, long-lasting, quiet, but I'm going to try a different brand after 3 non-fixable flats.

Awesome tire for the money!
Great tire for the price and they are not as noisy as you would think.

I bought these tires to replace my old mud tires on my Jeep. I was extremely surprised at how quiet they are!!! The ride is easy and not bouncy and I swear the grip is as good as my last set of Super Swampers! I'm EXTREMELY Pleased and will buy these again...

We put these tires on a daily driver that we also use as our primary trail rig. We run off road about once a month in wooded areas. I was surprised by how good they do on the road as well as offload.

Best radial dual purpose tire for the $!
Mounted on a 1989 Jeep Wrangler for offroading adventure and street cruising in nice weather (Not a daily driver so no idea on tread wear).
I went looking for a tire with the best traction I could get off road in the snow, mud, rocks, and dirt all while retaining a smooth comfortable ride on the highway - This tire has delivered as required.

This tire keeps it's sidewall shape well and needs below vehicle stated air pressure to achieve a full contact patch.

If you offroad......buy them.
Put 200 miles on them on-road and they've already shown some wear, do great off-road

These tires are unstoppable! I've had them on my '05 Rubicon for about 12,000 miles now and I'm very impressed. They are quieter than BFG M/T's and Pro-Comp Xterrains of the same size and they grip much better off road. I've had them on the beach in loose and packed sand, in most types of mud (slick to sticky), slick rock as well as grippy and they just seem to keep pulling. I have managed to puncture the sidewall despite being Kevlar reinforced (it was a very sharp, pointy rock with a knife like edge). However, I will say it held up to more abuse than any other tire I've run to date. I really don't have any problems with the tire other than the price. When all was said and done I payed around $1,200 for 4 of them. Although, I think they've come down in price a bit since I bought mine. The tires are asymmetrical but they are not directional which gives them a very unique look and interesting traits. The closer spaced lugs on the inner tread really keep you from digging yourself a grave while the larger paddle-like lugs grab like hands to pull you forward (or backward for that matter). The tire clears its' tread very well and at low speeds. I spend my weekdays on the highway and in the city and I spend my weekends off road. I've even driven halfway across the country on them. On the highway they hum a bit, but much quieter than any other MT I've run. They wear evenly and predictably. On wet roads they are outstanding, I have yet to hydroplane these tires (not that I'm going out of my way to do so). I would recommend these tires to the serious off roader, the weekend warrior, and the wannabe alike. In short, my winch doesn't get used anymore.
