G2 aluminum differential covers are designed to not only protect your ring & pinion, they are designed to help cool your gear oil for prolonged bearing life. Made from high strength heat-treated cast 356-T6 aluminum to withstand direct hits, these covers help protect your investment while adding a distinct look to your vehicle. Moreover, the cover comes equipped with an integrated dipstick and magnetic drain plug, which attracts and traps fine metal shavings which are harmful and cause accelerated wear.
Geat cover, cheaper in price than competitors. Hardest part of conversion is getting old cover off.
No more RTV
Plan on adding temp sensor!

The GM 10.5in. 14 Bolt Aluminum Cover is a quality cover for the price. I like the fact that it has a drain hole, fill hole, and oil level hole. The kit comes with a tube of RTV and new bolts for the installation. However, the bolts that came with the kit will not work with the late model 14 bolt axles. The bolts that came in the kit were 3/8 in. coarse bolts and the bolts for the late model axles are 8mm. I had to go to the local hardware store to buy bolts. Make sure you get bolts at least 1 1/2 inches in length due to the recessed threads in the axle housing and the thickness of the cover itself. I also installed hardened flat washers too. For the novice; if your spare is behind the axle, drop it out of the way. This will make your life easier when you install your new cover. Make sure you have extra gear oil about because you will get more volume with this cover.

Good quality part.
Very nice product but was sent wrong one first time around. Don't know if I would want to bash it on a rock to see if it held together but it's going to be a great addition to the truck I haul my toys with.

great product, looks good on my truck.
I have put it on my 2006 F-150. It looks great and keeps the rear end cooler and increased the oil capacity by 1 qt. So far nothing but bad to say about this product.

Great Towing Upgrade
Added this to my Ram 3500 that I tow/sled pull with. Unfortunately the info does not clearly state the increase in oil capacity in the listing info. Other than that it is a super easy install and the fill plug location is easy to get the 1qt bottles into without needing all sorts of hoses/funnels/pumps etc...

Great cover, but too large for stock
Well this cover is great! But I would say for lifted vehicles only. On my stock LJ the rear was perfect. No problems. The front on the other hand was sticking out too much and kept hitting the front track bar. Hitting hard! Even with a 2" lift it kept hitting. I grinded one of the ribs totally down to make it stop hitting. Worked until you hit large bump. So went back to the original diff cover. Gonna try a few more mods and see if I can get it working without the hits.

So glad I to the chance to see if it fit
Bought this for a 2004 avalanche. For those with 99 to 06 GM SUVs, you may know that this is a very difficult vehicle to fit an aftermarket cover on. But with the bad design and small size of the 8.6, they need all the help they can get. I do have aftermarket sway bars and panhard bar. So I am not sure about fit with OEM bars and the clearance is very tight, but it fits in my application. I can now drain and refill without removing suspension parts. It does hold an extra .5 quarts and the load bolts are simple added insurance for the bearings.
By the way John at the Raleigh, NC store was great help in the back and forth to the store to make sure I had the right fit.

Great Looking Product
Went in with ease during installation. The supplied hardware was too short to install the new cover. Was supplied with the same length bolts as factory design. The design and location of the fill plug is perfect for easy fill.

Hello El Gato
The G/240-2031ALB is a black powder coated heat treated and shot peened aluminum diff cover. It has a fill plug but no drain plug. A G/240-2031AL has a natural aluminum
finish. Thank You for your question.

klrpurp from sf, ca on
Thanks for the inquiry kirpurp, the G2 Axle and Gear Dana 44 Aluminum Cover part # G/240-2033AL this unit does not increase the capacity.
from sf, ca on
If I fill it to the bottom of the fill hole would that be to high ? or do I pre measure my fluid ? dana 30 1999 jeep.
Robert from on
I make a dipstick from a piece of wire to measure the level. You wan't to be at the center line of the axle tube. Or you can use a pre measured amount of fluid.
