G2 Axle & Gear ring & pinion sets are engineered with the most advanced manufacturing process to stand up to the most demanding applications you might encounter. Designed from the ground up to hold up to oversized tires and high performance engines, these ultra-durable gears use use the latest technology and materials to offer the strongest and quietest performance on the market.
The process to produce such a high-quality G2 ring & pinion set is a long one, but the time-tested process ensures only the highest quality end product. For starters, only 8620 Steel is used to provide the most robust set around. The gears are forged then machined to exacting tolerances. This makes the G2 ring & pinion mesh perfectly, allowing for OE-like operation that won't have you running for earplugs--they're that quiet.
After the machining process, the ring & pinion are double-lapped to make the mating surface as smooth as possible, reducing friction and thereby extending longevity and service life. Moreover, the gears are also shot-peened and heat-treated to further improve strength for high-performance applications.
G2's Axle & Gear's ring & pinion sets are available for a wide range of vehicles, including AMC/Chrysler, Dana 30/35, Dana 44, Dana 50/60/70, Ford, GM, Toyota and Suzuki. - See more at: https://wwwuat.4wheelparts.com/p/g2-ring-and-pinions/19322/_/A-FCNB-2-2057-488X#sthash.carZ9RsM.dpuf
Mr. Sings-like-a-canary probably needs to check pre-load on the pinion shaft, spacing & gear-lash(w/shim kit), and or fluid(s) for starters. Recommend using a Master Install kit w/instructions, and using ALL required torque wrenches and gauges.
daily used with tires size #33 more power better performance i have to by speedo healer to correct the speeedometer but no complaint loved.
great product. but the treads are right handed treads so just to make it easier on the next person who does this on their own. but other words great product. I was thinking of motive gear but decided on g2 due to the 10 year warranty unlike motive gear. so far the g2 is worth the money that was spent.

I recieved the gears very quickly and they were everything i expected.
I swapped my Dana 35 rear end for a ford 8.8 in my 94 YJ. I installed the G2 4.88 gears and a locker with help from my older brother. The biggest thing with setting the gears is getting the back lash correct. If you do not have the precision tools for this task, let the 4wheel parts guys take care of it. Great product!
Just as described and installed great. Brand new all good
An excellent product and priced right, quick shipping.
Great price but did not have the right bearings to fit my carrier coz I have lockers. Had to buy all new bearings along with the kit.
I was concerned that a few reviews indicated that their R&P's were noisy. I have found just the opposite. Install went smooth, and after about 5000 miles, almost all of it towing a 2700lb trailer, it's still quiet and tight. 75% less cost than a factory replacement, and seemed heavier than the original that came out.
have a 2011 toyota tacoma trd sport, needed to know if the ring and pinion that go into the rear end will also fit in the front end or is there a different set of gears for up there.
Asked by waylon from mississppi on
Hi Waylon, For this G2 Toyota 8 Inch 4.88 Ratio Ring and Pinion it will not work in the front differential. The front and rear diffs are different sizes and require different ring and pinions, but need to be the same gear ratio, otherwise your transfer case will be damaged if used in 4WD. If you contact our customer service center @ 877-474-4821 they can go over what ring and pinions you would need and what options are available

I have a 2007 jeep wrangler JK Unlimited X. Will this kit fit perfectly with my stock setup? I want to change my gears to 4.88 due to over sized tires. Everything on my jeep is stock other than a lift kit that i currently have installed. Thank you for your time.
Asked by Nick from Northern, Maine on
Hello Yes this is the complete package for your Jeep. Depending on what ratio you have now you may need the front carrier if you have the 3.21 gears now. If you do you would need one of the D/S 2010999 case for the front only. http://www.4wheelparts.com/Drivetrain-Differential/Dana-30-JK-Open-Differential-Case.aspx?t_c=12&t_s=237&t_pt=5589&t_pn=D/S2010999 Thanks

I have a 5-speed manual 4x4 1987 toyota 4runner 22-re. I do light to moderate off-roading and the truck is also my daily commuter. About a year ago I put 31x10.50 tires on, and also thinking of moving up to 33's. It isn't exactly lacking power, but I wanted to add a little more strength to make sure I'm not stressing the differential or be losing power. It has the stock 4.11 ratio ring and pinion in it now. My question is: Should I go with the 4.56 ratio ring and pinion, or should I go with the 4.88 ratio ring and pinion? I'm also concerned about highway speed because it already does not like to get much past 65mph before its at max rpm. I'm afraid if I put the 4.88 ratio on it won't get past 50mph on the highway!
Asked by Tyler from North Carolina on
Hello There is no way you are at max rpm at 65 mph with 410's and 31 inch tall tires. At 65 in 4th gear you would be only running 2900 rpm's. You put it into 5th you will loose another 18 percent off of the 2900. How fast did it go with the stock tires? It would do 75 80 with ease so with bigger tires the rpm's will be lower. The 22re makes peak horsepower at 4500 rpm's. With the 33's we run the 488's all the time the 4runners with 31's from the factory with auto trans have 488's stock.
