Your truck has c-clips now which will not work with a spool. You have to modify the end of the housing to except a new style bearing. There is welding involved along with cutting the ends off the housing. The axles will have the bearing pressed onto them along with a retainer plate. The c-clip eliminators are made by Moser Engineering. There are a couple different kits on average they run around 220.00 for the kit.
Will this spool fit in a ifs differential case? I know its "not a good idea" bit I need to know if it fits. This one or the 8" spool for the v6

It is to large for the IFS front end. The ifs is only 7.5 inches on the 05 and older trucks.

This spool will fit in the housing but we do not carry a C Clip Eliminator to fit the Explorer axle. we do have the Mini spool that will accept your c clip axles. http://jo.my/g5nci9
Running a spool in the front axle will make it very difficult to steer off road and near impossible on pavement due to the fact that there is no differential action. Also running a spool in the front has a tendency to blow up hubs and snap axle shafts. that is why people prefer the selectable lockers in the front so you can disengage them. lockers will unlock one wheel while turning when not under power. you can run one just be prepared for the issues with steering and brokeb parts. thank you
