Good quality fan pulls plenty of air, what you’d expect from an American made unit.

I've had this for about a year and the motor bearing just gave out today and just about destroyed my radiator. It has giant gashed from the blades hitting it. Carful with this brand or type of motor they are using. Otherwise it is a great fan.
The fan is 3.5 inches thick at the motor which is the highest point.
Trying to save gas has become an important thing these days. If I put one of these fans on my 98 K1500 Chevy truck w/5.7 engine can I remove the mechanical fan all together, and if so, what kind of mileage improvement can I expect if any? Thanks.

Garthfan a 14" Flex a lite electric fan should be an adequate size fan to handle your 5.7L cooling needs without the clutch fan. i have herd of people getting 2-3 MPG by eliminating the engine driven fan. if you decide on doing that i would install the fan on the engine side of the radiator and make it draw air through the radiator it will work much better than in front of the radiator.
David all electric cooling fans will cool better if they are drawing air through the radiator .when you try to push the air through the radiator the a large portion of the air is deflected by the cooling fins. the deflected air causes turbulence and prevents the other air from going through since the blocked air cuts the other airs path.
