2.0 Poor quality

They package it up nice but it doesn't do any good if they put chips in the powder coat before they package it. So many chips, bad bad quality.

1.0 Fishbone 1/2 size bed rack

I the Fishbone 1/2 rack for my Gladiator.. Came well packaged..real easy to assemble on the truck or off..easy to install with or without a trail rail system. I only had one problem...that was with one of the pieces that goes up behind one of the arches to clamp it the truck bed one of the bolt holes for the carriage bolts got rounded, the bolt kept spinning as you tighten it . I contacted Fishbone and they wouldn't replace the part..I even offered to pay for it...they still wouldn't replace it.. SO I REFUSE TO PURCHASE ANY OTHER FISHBOND PRODUCTS... I only had one problem and that was

5.0 Great product for the price

This rack was easy to install with one person. It came packaged nicely with no dings or dents. Works extremely well with our Smittybuilt Overland XL Roof top tent.

3.0 Nice, well built rack but use your own nuts.

Rock solid construction and easy assembly for one person. Arrives packed in foam that’s injected into the box, ensuring everything is well protected. Enough mounting points on the top and driver/passenger sides but none on the tailgate side. All the rack bolts are secured with nylon lock nuts which require special handling when tying down. Even so, many nuts would not secure fully and I’m forced to cut them all off and replace them. I’m also curious why Fishbone chose to use the locking nuts on the adjustable top rails, making them non adjustable once secured. I recommend replacing all the nuts before assembly, or just the top rail if you manage to get the nylon nuts to fully seat. I’ve sent messages to Fishbone in regards to this issue but they have not responded.

Question & Answers

5 Answered questions

Q: Do you have a mounting kit for a spare tire on top of the rack? Answer this question

A: No spare tire mount for this, the vendor doesn’t want weight up high. But they do offer this that will fit with a 37” tire and the rack: https://www.fishboneoffroad.com/products/pc/viewPrd.asp?idproduct=2272&idcategory=105

Q: Kindly explain if that Fishbone rack can hold 500lbs. Or more weight wise. If I put a smittybilt overlander rooftop tent which can hold 3-4person a total of max load ratings 700lbs would this fishbone then eventually bend since the weight on it is heavier Answer this question

A: The rack will be fine with that setup. Fishbone had to rate the rack for both dynamic and static weight and after some testing we landed on 500lbs. The reason for this is they didn’t want someone on the trail with 800lbs throwing their vehicles center of gravity way off.

Q: Is there an accessory that attached to the side so we can carry a mountain bike? Answer this question

A: Per Fishbone, not yet

Q: If it only supports 500lbs., I’m assuming we can’t put a rooftop Smittybuilt tent on it since that weight plus humans and other gear would be more than that, right? Answer this question

A: Per Fishbone this rack was designed for tents. It holds 500 lbs of static weight.
