Be ready for anything: Equip your Jeep with Bushwacker Flat Style Fender Flares. They're the first and only flat style flares made to absorb impact using our proprietary Dura-Flex 2000 TPO the thickest, most flexible material available. Flat Style Fender Flares maximize your tire coverage and wheel articulation for intense off-road use. Yet they're carefully engineered to install with a minimum of extra tools and bodywork (see the installation guide for your specific vehicle for details). For example, our mounting brackets bolt straight onto your Jeep for added strength and simpler fitting. Our design integrates neatly with the factory rocker guards, and incorporates DOT-compliant LED side marker lights and fully molded wheel well protection. The flares are 100% UV protected, too, to stop chalking in its tracks. If you want the look and the real-world performance that best fits an American icon, nothing goes with your Jeep better than Bushwacker Flat Style Fender Flares.
Definitely a pain in the butt to install but not as bad as some of the reviews make it out to be. Lining up the actual fender to the bracket takes the longest. Spend time prepping parts and it’s straight forward.
They are of good quality so no problems there the weather strip is a pain to install there has to be a better option truly not fun. The lights are not wire specific so when wiring its black to white not white to white and black to black like you would think again not a big deal. When installing the hardware there is plastic that you have to cut away to install the clips and light hardware seems simple but what a pain the problem is when the factory drilled the holes some of the holes do not come clean and there is like melted plastic that gets pushed out and without shaving that off the hardware does not fit. Lastly and this was my own fault and did not think about it but if your like me and you like to work on your jeep you can not lean on the fenders at all they will pull away leaving gaps so every time you lean over the side of your jeep the fender will buckle a bit. Now with all that said they look great and if you do no intend to mess around they are a nice option just know there will be some install challenges I outlined above that you really wont find anyone talking about. I pulled mine off in just over a week and went with a metal pair. Live and learn i guess.
Love the fenders and they look great on the jeep. The install was not so smooth. Aligning the fender screw holes over the mounting pieces was not easy. I used cardboard pieces behind the speed nuts to keep them in place but it was still difficult to get the holes to line up. I did the driver side first. On the passenger side I put the mounting pieces into the fenders to check the alignment of the holes and they lined up. Still wasn’t easy but the passenger side did go better. On my 2014 JKUR I did not have the factory retainer / nut for the inner shield. Wound up getting one from the dealership for an outrageous $10. Also had to drill a hole for it since there was not a hole in the shield. The bolt was there so it worked out in the end. Be patient, take your time, you will eventually holes to line up and fenders will look great!
The install is not bad but the speed clips do like to move when you slide the fender onto the mounts. This makes finding the holes a real challenge at times. I tried crimping them in place but they still moved. I found using a very thin, micro thin, needle nose plier could be shoved into the fender hole to fish the speed clip back into place. Once you get that figured out everything else is not terrible. I started trimming the inner fender with my Dremel but found my oscillating tool(pictured) to cut them much better. It made light work of that part of the job. I love the way they turned out and I'm very happy with the look.
I finally pulled the trigger on these 10 years later.. but while installing nothing lined up and I do have a couple noticeable gaps. They do look good but brace yourself for a lengthy install
I needed some fender flares. Did my research. Read reviews. Ordered flares and planned time for install. Installation was easy for everything except the actual flares. Bushwacker should fire who ever designed these and who ever let them come to market with this flaw. When you go to put the flares on none (And I Mean NONE) of the holes line up to attach the flares to the brackets. My opinion is they did this brilliant engineering without the weather stripping on, so when you put it on all the holes are pushed out too far. Once you figure this out you have to have a sharp awl to push up through the back of the hole and you can finish the installation. Other than that, pretty nice product. Love the look.
Great fit and easy straight forward installation. The finish on flares is perfect. The flares are plenty wide enough to keep the cops from bothering me. They keep most of the mud and road filth off my Jeep
Install takes time to get everything right but perfect look that I was expecting.
