Finally, Auburn Gear offers a solution which offers two traction enhancing differentials in one package: a full-time limited-slip for daily driving in addition to a full-locking differential, which can be activated at the flip of a switch. The selection between both modes can be done on-the-fly, so you don't have to press pause during the middle of your off-road excursion. How it works: The Auburn Gear Ected Max is a selectable traction device; an on/off switch is mounted near the driver. When off (limted-slip mode), the clutch pack provides the smooth actuation of a standard open differential. As torque increases, the separating forces within the differential gears increase, causing the clutch pack to be compressed and thereby providing bias torque to the high traction wheel. This essentially acts as your performance limited-slip differential. When the user flicks the switch to “on”, electrical current is sent to the electromagnetic coil which engages full-lock, allowing both drive wheels to receive equal amounts of torque. This will allow your vehicle to climb out of trouble--all at the flip of a switch. You get the high-performance daily driveability of a limited-slip differential with the full-locking action of a solid spool/locker--the best of both worlds. Lastly, the Auburn Gear Ected Max Differential comes with a 1-year warranty, further boosting both peace-of- mind and value.
I ran one of these in an 05 TJ. It was great. You could be on the move and flip the switch and the locker would engage. Well worth the money. I will get another for my new TJ.

I have had a Lock Right in my 92 YJ for 10+ years and needed something better on the road. Install of ECTED was not hard, if you know differentials and have the tools. Instructions say you can put the wire fitting in the cover or thread a hole in the case. I threaded a hole in the top of the case, cover plate is not a good location. So far all looks good, locker/Limited slip working as expected and 100% better on the road compared to Lock Right.

Neat set up
great product, bad is you have to drill a hole for wiring in the differential housing. The grommet kit is not good quality. So using a brass fitting with better gromett is a much better idea. Works awesome though

Auburn Ected Manual Locker
The Lockers work great, easy to activate by flicking a switch. Locks right away and stays locked. I like the idea of NO air compressor!! Far less things to fix on the trail if they break down. My ONLY negitive remark would be the electric lockers take ALONG time to unlock, you have to back up not only ten to twenty feet but turn your whells from side to side and IF YOUR LUCKY they will unlock onthe first try. These lockers would score a higher rating if they unlocked easier.

TRUE ALL WHEEL DRIVE
The Auburn Lockers was the simples way to make a four wheel drive equipment true all wheel drive. The plan is to use it it up in the mountains passes when snow is deep. I also use it on steep gravel road grades. Where it takes more than 4 wheel drive gear is needed. I also use it in work like pulling up roots. It easy on and off will help for traction for pulling and off in down hill slippery roads to keep it under controll. Because it does make the car use more fuel, I only put it on when needed. But mostly keep it off. For getting more distance range use the two wheel drive as much as possible and not lockers or 4 wheel mode. It is there when needed.
Will this fit my 2012 f-150 front axel? If not is there an e-locker out there that will fit.

Auburn Gear's differentials are produced from design to production in their 250,000 sq. ft. plant in Auburn, Indiana. Auburn Gear has been in the manufacturing business in the United States for 60 years. Before making differentials for Jeeps, Auburn Gear manufactured for the busing, aerial lift, agricultural, mining, forest, marine and heavy construction industries. In addition to the plant itself, Auburn Gear's property includes 44 acres. So when they design differentials, they actually install them in Jeeps and then drive them around the trails on their own property to see how they perform. This is how Auburn Gear brings customers excellent quality and we proudly carry many of their products. Shop Auburn Gear Now
