The AIRAID CAIS was a fairly easy add-on to the Cherokee. I recommend checking the connections from the breather hose to the intake, if a hose is cracked your better off having a replacement on-hand. The kit is sturdy and good quality. Using the existing lower portion of the Cherokee airbox means that hot air hitting the intake is minimized. I changed the O2 sensors at the same time as adding the AIRAID. The result has been a smoother running engine. I took the Jeep to Hollister and it performed well on the moderate trails with the AIRAID intake and Flowmaster muffler.

Simple Install, Great Results
Though the system appears to be pretty simple, it definitely makes a difference. It retains the lower half of the factory intake box (and its cold air inlet ducts) and the supplied panels snap into it. The weatherstripping on top of the panels seals against the hood when its shut, basically making the hood act like a lid for the intake box. This allows enough room for a really big air filter, which seems to be supplying much more air to the engine than the factory setup. I noticed an immediate improvement in throttle response and picked up 1.5 mpg, not bad for a product that installs in under an hour and is guaranteed for life! And it's even smog legal!

I liked it and disliked it.
I ended up liking that I had to use the stock lower half of the airbox. It keeps the filter up high so less worry about water getting in when it gets deep. The installation was pretty easy but metal box is cheesy and doesnt keep it shape well. I would like to see a tube from the filter all the way to the throttle body instead of using the stock one. The weather strip seal on the top is not fun to put on. Different heights and 90 degree corners make if difficult. I might cut it so it makes the corner and stays down. Overall it works and looks pretty good but costs too much for what you get.

As advertized for a change
Nice to find products that do what they claim in the ads. I put it on my F150 in about 15 minutes and immediately took it for a ride. Nice sound and a bit more ompuff pulling the hill from the house up to the highway. Haven't had it on long enough to tell if overall power has been improved or if milage was boosted.

Easy Install and Noticible Increase
Installed the cold air intake and throttle body kit on my 07 Dodge Mega Cab 2500. Took about 1 hr to install, nothing major and everything was included in the kit. Noticible increase in power when I'm towing my 32' toy hauler. Have not had it long enough to see if any mileage increase.

Very easy to install, did in my driveway less than a half hour. I love the sound when you put your foot into the pedal. Only difficulty was taking the tube out of the stock box, which was a little crusted in. But other than that it is a GREAT product.

Noticeable Power Gain
Very easy to follow install instructions. I recommend to build the air dam and put it togheter with the filter before openning the hood. You can really tell that your engine has improved in performance right away and I was having a hard time staying off the gas pedal. I added a throttle body spacer with this cold air intake upgrade right before a road trip from Tucson, AZ to Connecticut and with the help of my GPS was able to confirm an increase on MPG's. The owners manual and the EPA put the HWY MPG's at around 17-18 MPG's for my 01 Cherokee but I ended recording an average of 22 MPG's over most of the trip.....did I mentioned that I was having a hard time staying off the gas pedal??....
Throttle response was improved right away but I feel that you have to drive your vehicle for a few miles before the engine control gets used to the additional air surge. Don't expect the so called "seat off your pants" acceleration effect that some people talk about but but be pleasantly surprised to enjoy the gained performance you get from this upgrade. My only complain is that you get to keep the stock hose from the throttle body to the air intake but since I added a spacer I don't think it matters that much since the additional air goes thru the throttle body before being discharged into the intake manifold. The 30 mins installation is right on......can't wait to see how the engine will perform with the addition of a performance exhaust and maybe a chip programmer.....

Mixed results on Airaid filter systems
Installed 2 Airaid systems with cat-back exhaust. 1 on a 2008 Jeep Wrangler, 1 on a 2010 F-250 V-10. Noticed immediate performance and economy improvement on the Jeep. I'm not as impressed with the Ford, if there's improvement it's hardly noticable. Recently chipped (Hypermax) the Ford too, waiting to see if that helps. Initially not too impressed, but to be fair, I need more time. The intake and exhaust combo definitely provided a throaty sound in both cases, and a whistle on the JK. Airaid says this is symptomatic of the 3.8. A bit annoying though.
what effect does this product have on California smog inspections? Will the vehicle still pass inspections?
What effect does it have on gas milage? I would love to increase my Hemi gas milage and stay OK with smog inspections.

Thanks for asking. The Airaid Synthaflow Quickfit Intake system is emissions legal with a CARB EO # D-609-2. This intake should help your milage and power depending on the condition of your vehicle and any other modifications you may have made to it.
