The 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 generated plenty of controversy when it was unveiled. People went nuts about the new frontend with its squinty headlights and the looks of it. Forums went into an uproar, the Internet exploded, and some Chevy owners were seriously freaking out. It was a big deal and the world was seemingly coming to an end. Then again, it is the Internet and everything there is a big deal. Remember the whole "is the dress white and gold or black and blue" thing? That was a huge deal on the Internet too. It even has its own Wikipedia entry that is way longer than it needs to be. Now nobody cares (thankfully). Chevy must have done something right because they are selling plenty of new 2019 Silverados.

Looks are always subjective as beauty is in the eye of the beholder. We will admit that the new 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500 does look a bit off in stock form. Its more aggressive looks really aren't matched by anything else on the truck. With its puny tires, it looks like a bodybuilder who only focused on his upper body and skipped leg day. We took one look at the new Chevy Silverado and knew it would look great with a lift and bigger tires.

One way to fit much larger tires on the new Silverado is with Rough Country's new 6-inch lift. With the ability to clear 35-inch tires, it radically transforms the looks of Chevy's new 1500. While adding 6 inches of lift, it also levels the vehicle for a clean look. The system doesn't increase the track width at all allowing for a 10-inch wide wheel. And, it includes Rough Country's Lifetime Replacement Guarantee. Let's take a closer look at Rough Country's 6-inch 2019 Chevy Silverado lift. We won't give you a step-by-step of the install as that is what instructions are for, but an overview to see how you can transform your truck.

With a new truck came a new suspension so Rough Country started from scratch with its 6-inch lift for the 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500. The main components are new front and rear cross members, strut spacers and new knuckles. It comes with everything you need to install it, and the strut spacers mean you don't have to disassemble the factory strut.

Helping to supply the 6 inches of lift are new front and rear cross members. All of Rough Country's cross members and brackets are laser cut, CNC bent, and welded in a fixture or by hand. They then go through a multi-stage acid etching for maximum powder coat adhesion. The powder coating is also done in house and tested for thickness to make sure it can withstand corrosion.

Included with the system are these ductile iron cast knuckles. They are not only a lot stronger than the factory units, but are designed not to increase track width at all. Some systems increase the track width, limiting wheel selection. The Rough Country knuckles allow for a 10-inch wide wheel to be used with a 4.5-inch backspacing for that deep lip look that everyone loves.

For the rear, fabricated blocks are used instead of cast blocks. The fabricated blocks are said to be stronger than cast ones and to offer a longer lifespan. They are also larger in width than most blocks. This helps to spread out the load on the spring and reduce axle wrap.

Rough Country's premium N3 shocks are included with the 6-inch suspension system. They use a larger bore for better heat dissipation, a larger piston rod for increased durability, and premium seals. The N3 shocks are specifically valved for this application for a smooth ride.

The Rough Country 2019 Chevy Silverado 6-inch lift kit installs like many other cross member suspensions. There is some cutting and drilling required, but it is nothing major. An integrated skid plate (not pictured) also attaches to the cross members.

The front differential is dropped to maintain proper CV angles and ensure the CVs live a long, happy life. There is no cutting or trimming of the front differential required, and this helps to speed the installation process.

All necessary brackets and hardware are included with the system making it a complete kit. Sometimes smaller items, like these rear brake line relocation brackets, are left out by other manufacturers to save on costs.

One of the major reasons for going with a block in the rear was to maintain the cushy factory ride that Chevy spent so long perfecting. With a block in place instead of an add-a-leaf there is no increase in spring rate.

Some might not like the look of the new 2019 Chevy Silverado 1500. However, there is no denying that with a 6-inch lift and 35-inch tires it looks way better. We dig it!

With the Rough Country lift in place, the Silverado sits nice and level. 20-inch wheels are required to clear the new knuckles.
