Not Great, but Better Than Nothing

Comments about Smittybilt2.54 CFM Air Compressor:

I received this as a gift and haven't used it while off-roading yet, but in using it to top off my tires the compressor itself seems to work great. It provides more than enough airflow for my 31x10.50s and should work well for larger tires. I'm concerned about the quality of the coiled hose, and I don't like that the special fittings don't allow the use of "off the shelf" accessories such as air c

Comments about Smittybilt2.54 CFM Air Compressor:

This air compressor can be used for a variety of things, but my main use is allowing me the freedom of airing down the tires on the trail and being able to air them back to normal pressure for the return home. It's also pretty handy to air up low tires on any of my vehicles without having to bring them to the garage air system.

Need at least 2" of clearance!

Comments about Smittybilt2.54 CFM Air Compressor:

I have TPMS valve stems and the fill nozzle will not squeeze between them and rim. You need a solid 2" + of space to fit the straight/screw on connector onto your valve stems. If they just had a simple 90 degree bend, it would work on everything. The hoses and connectors are their own design so it will require me removing it all and replacing with normal connectors/hoses.

Questions & Answers

  • Q:

"I need a reliable compressor for occasional use to air up 15"" BFG AT KO tires on my 88 Westfalia van. Low end, 20#, highest, 55#. Preferably low enough draw to work off of cigarette lighter, and moveable to another vehicle. I'm looking for the least expensive item that is reliable. I've been using a $20 plastic compressor that is too slow, and gets too hot after the first tire. Thanks, Scott"
