G2 Axle & Gear ring & pinion sets are engineered with the most advanced manufacturing process to stand up to the most demanding applications you might encounter. Designed from the ground up to hold up to oversized tires and high performance engines, these ultra-durable gears use use the latest technology and materials to offer the strongest and quietest performance on the market.
The process to produce such a high-quality G2 ring & pinion set is a long one, but the time-tested process ensures only the highest quality end product. For starters, only 8620 Steel is used to provide the most robust set around. The gears are forged then machined to exacting tolerances. This makes the G2 ring & pinion mesh perfectly, allowing for OE-like operation that won't have you running for earplugs--they're that quiet.
After the machining process, the ring & pinion are double-lapped to make the mating surface as smooth as possible, reducing friction and thereby extending longevity and service life. Moreover, the gears are also shot-peened and heat-treated to further improve strength for high-performance applications.
G2's Axle & Gear's ring & pinion sets are available for a wide range of vehicles, including AMC/Chrysler, Dana 30/35, Dana 44, Dana 50/60/70, Ford, GM, Toyota and Suzuki.
Quality gear set, pattern on Toyota elocker with .006" BL, favors the toe on both drive and coast for a performance setup. Finish on gears is top notch, on par with Nitro.
4WP was able to get the gears where others were not. Great place to get parts for all you 4x4 needs, and great prices to boot.
Q: What would be the correct install kit to order to install the G2 4.56 gears on my 1989 K5 Blazer with the GM 8.5 axles Answer this question
A: Use the G2 GM 8.5 Inch Master Ring and Pinion Installation Kit - PN: G/235-2021

Q: What parts would I need to regear my 2003 Tacoma 6cylinder with the stock rear diff lock Answer this question
A: The PN: G/22-2041-529 is incorrect, it is for the 8” 4 cylinder gear with a 27 spline pinion shaft. Here is what I can tell you about the 2003 Tacoma with factory electric locker. It uses an 8” V6 diff if it has the electric locker. In late 2003 they started to use a 29 spline pinion shaft and pinion yoke. It still could possibly have a 27 spline pinion and pinion yoke. Yukon and Trail Gear both have 29 spline multi-drilled pinion yoke. Kits part number YKGYYT35040-29-KIT or TGI304110-1-KIT. PN: G/22-2058-529 is correct but out of stock. The master install kit for the factory electric locker 8” V6 rear diff is PN: G/235-2058L. Give us a call we have other brands available Sales Associate: 808-676-2266 or Toll Free: 800-421-1050

Q: I have a 92 GMC Sierra K1500 with an NV4500 5 speed behind a blueprint crate sbc 5.7 liter v-8 pushing around 380+ peak horsepower. I’m currently running 35’s with the possibility of going 38.5’s in the future. Would 4.88 gears be to much gear for 35’s Answer this question
A: The 4.88 ratio would be too much for the 35” tires but would be good for the 38.5” tires
Answered by Kelly from 4WP Corporate Headquarters on 08/10/2021
Q: Will this fit a 2002 Tacoma Answer this question
A: Yes and No. Yes, if your replacing an aftermarket set of gears already that are 29spline pinion. No if you are replacing your factory gear set which uses a 27spline pinion. Note* 2003&2004 Toyota tacoma rear axle pinion changed from 27 to 29spline.

Q: I have a 2006 Suburban 1500 Z71 with 3.73 front/rear (rear is electronic locker). Looking to go to 4.10 to help with oversize tires. Which part number for ring/pinion and install kit? Thanks! Answer this question
A: If the 2006 Suburban 1500 Z71 has the 10 bolt 8.6” rear end, the rear would use G/22-2021-410, G/235-2022 and 2 each G/230-9002 outer axle bearing and seal kits. If it has a 14 bolt 9.5” rear end the ring and pinion is G/22-2020-410. The master install kit is G/235-2010A. The outer axle bearings are 2 each TIMR1561TV and the outer axle seals are 2 each NAT710105 (Nitrile) or NAT100357 (Viton). The 8.25” IFS front end uses G/22-2095-410, G/235-2095 and 2 each NAT71045 IFS Diff side seals for the stub axles.

Q: Does pinion use a 27 or 29 spline flange? Once you know please ask Kelly to add this to the description. Answer this question
A: The G/22-2041-529 has a 27 spline pinion shaft and fits a Toyota 8 inch 4 cylinder style differential. This diff was used from 1979-2004. When the Tacoma came out in 1995.5 all 4 cylinder models used the V6 style 8 inch diff.

Q: would this work with a 8.5 from a Chevy s10 blazer with the g80 locker that had stock 3.73's? Answer this question
A: The G/22-2021-488 will work in the 8.5” 10 bolt rear end, I recommend replacing the G80 with a Trutrac for reliability and better performance. The G80 is not good to reuse, they have a high failure rate.

Q: 2-2041-488 g2 gears are these the 4cyl or v6 Answer this question
A: The Toyota 8 inch differentials in the Toyota 4x4 pick ups up to early 1995 had a 4 cylinder style diff and a V6 diff. The 2-2041-488 is for the 4 cylinder.

Q: Does this fit my 1981 Toyota pickup hilux for the rear? Answer this question
A: The 1981 Toyota 4x4 4 cylinder 6 lug rear end will use the G/22-2041-529 ring and pinion. A 1981 2WD 4 cylinder Toyota will have a 7.5 inch 5 lug rear end and would use a G/22-2042-529 ring and pinion. There was also a 1981 Toyota 1Ton 2wd 5 lug rear that was an 8 inch diff and it would use the G/22-2041-529 the same as the 8 inch diff in the 4x4.

Q: Will this fit my 2021 Tacoma 2wd 2.7 engine . If not what will . Thanks Answer this question
A: I do not have fitment information for the 2021 Tacoma. In 2020 for the Tacoma with no factory E-Locker and an automatic transmission they came with a new version of the 8 inch rear end. It would use a G/22-2058-488 or a YKGYGTV6-488-29. The G/22-2043-488 could be used along with a TGI304184-1-KIT. The 2005 and newer Tacoma has a 29 spline pinion shaft and the G/22-2043-488 is for an earlier Toyota 8 inch rear which has a 27 spline pinion shaft. The 2016 and newer Tacoma would use a YKGTKTV6-C master install kit for the new version of the 8 inch diff. If the Tacoma has a factory E-Locker or a manual trans then it would have a 8.75 Toyota rear end. This would use a YKGTGT8.75-488 ring and pinion and a YKGYKT8.75 master install kit

Q: have a 2011 toyota tacoma trd sport, needed to know if the ring and pinion that go into the rear end will also fit in the front end or is there a different set of gears for up there. Answer this question
A: Hi Waylon, For this G2 Toyota 8 Inch 4.88 Ratio Ring and Pinion it will not work in the front differential. The front and rear diffs are different sizes and require different ring and pinions, but need to be the same gear ratio, otherwise your transfer case will be damaged if used in 4WD. If you contact our customer service center @ 877-474-4821 they can go over what ring and pinions you would need and what options are available

It isn't exactly lacking power, but I wanted to add a little more strength to make sure I'm not stressing the differential or be losing power. It has the stock 4.11 ratio ring and pinion in it now. My question is: Should I go with the 4.56 ratio ring and pinion, or should I go with the 4.88 ratio ring and pinion? I'm also concerned about highway speed because it already does not like to get much past 65mph before its at max rpm. I'm afraid if I put the 4.88 ratio on it won't get past 50mph on the highway! Answer this question
A: Hello There is no way you are at max rpm at 65 mph with 410's and 31 inch tall tires. At 65 in 4th gear you would be only running 2900 rpm's. You put it into 5th you will loose another 18 percent off of the 2900. How fast did it go with the stock tires? It would do 75 80 with ease so with bigger tires the rpm's will be lower. The 22re makes peak horsepower at 4500 rpm's. With the 33's we run the 488's all the time the 4runners with 31's from the factory with auto trans have 488's stock.

Q: I generally break 2 to 3 of these a year truck pulling. Will you stand behind the products warranty when I send these back after I break them numerous times? Answer this question
A: Hello Ryan The warranty is a workmanship warranty if the gear was made wrong or factory defect. Four Wheel does offer an extended warranty for 10 percent of the price. That would cover the gear no matter what. If it was me I would look for an oem gear which would be a touch lower 4.63 ratio. I have a number of guy's running the 463's instead of 456's.

Q: HI, I have a 1985 pickup xcab 4x4,22re with auto trans and looking to put bigger tires like 31 or 32 but worried about power to turn them. what gear ratio should I go with. Answer this question
A: Hello Tim That is a great little truck with the auto trans and 22re. The overdrive is in your transmission is a lot higher than the 5 speed stick. I would go with the 488's for sure with 31 or 32's. The V6 trucks with auto trans and 31's came with 488's out of the factory. Your 22re has more bottom end power than the V6 so stick with 488's.

A: Hello Rootz Yes the lower gears would be the biggest help you can do for towing. Your Tacoma could have a couple different rear axles. If it is a 5 lug it would be the 8 inch rear end with 6 lug it is the 8.4 axle. Not knowing how big of tires you have not sure on how low of gear you should go to.

A: Hello If all you need is the ring and pinion then yes. Since I don't know how many miles are on your truck you made need the bearing kit. If it is low miles then all you would need is the minor install kit. The minor kit includes the crush sleeve, pinion seal, shims, ring gear bolts, and the pinion nut. These are all one time use parts and need to be replaced each time.

The 94-97 are the 10.25" Long Pinion and 99 and newer ate the 10.5".The actual axle housing are the same casting and all gears can be swapped around as long as the yoke and bearings are used with the proper gear set. Thank You
