A failing lift pump will not only cause sub-standard performance, but it can also cause costly damage to the injection pump. The OEM fuel filter was designed to provide adequate flow and filtration at the stock horsepower level, but it simply doesn't have enough surface area to hold the dirt when the engine is modified and fuel flow is increased. Exceeding the flow limit of the stock filter causes it to get dirty more quickly, resulting in a restriction that hurts performance.

Improve Injection Pump Reliability with this Simple Mod! One of the most common failures with the DS4 pump on 1994-2000 Chevy 6.5 liter diesel engine applicaitions is the Pump Mounted Driver (PMD), located on the side of the pump.
