Toyo Tires

Drop into almost any kind of motorsports event and you're likely to see the Toyo Tires name. This experienced and reputable tire manufacturer has been closely involved in motorsports since the 1980s - which, incidentally, is when Toyo opened its first U.S. manufacturing plant. The company's dedication to proving its tires in competition has become a defining characteristic of this brand.

Standards change fast in the world of motorsports. And yet, Toyo engineers have remained at the forefront, routinely delivering tire designs that produce championship performances. The company says the success comes from a focus on performance, quality, customer service, and innovation. Whatever the reason, daily drivers, off roaders, and competitors alike choose Toyo over and over again.

Brief history of Toyo Tires

Toyo Tires was established in Japan in 1945, and began distributing in the U.S. in 1966. At that time, Toyo was the only Japanese tire manufacturer with a U.S.-based subsidiary. In these early days, the U.S. arm of the company distributed commercial truck tires. Replacement tires for passenger vehicles would come later, followed by the establishment of Toyo's first U.S. manufacturing plant.

Popular Toyo tires

Toyo entered the off road segment in 2003, when the Open Country M/T tire hit the market. Since then, the competition-version of this tire design has notched an impressive list of successes in off road racing circuits. Some of these accomplishments include the 2009 SCORE Overall Points Championship, 2006 SCORE Baja 1000 Championship, and two Best in the Desert Class 8000 championships. The street version tires even delivered a win in the Class 1 of the SCORE Baja 1000 in 2008.

The Open Country M/T continues to be a top choice among recreational four-wheel enthusiasts as well. This Toyo tire features Dynamic Stability Optimized Contact (DOSC) technology, which maximizes the contact patch for excellent handling performance. The innovative tread blocks grip in mucky and uneven terrain, while remaining legal and capable on the road.

The all-terrain version of the Open Country balances trail performance with street manners. This Toyo tire, called the Open Country A/T, uses computer-optimized tread to deliver traction and handling on and off the road.

Toyo S/T tires are engineered for drivers who want the whole package at the right price. This Toyo tire has a sleek, low-profile design, performs well, and is rated for mud and snow. Drivers can expect superior traction and ride quality on wet or dry asphalt. Available in conventional and large sizes, this Toyo tire is a great option for performance-oriented trucks and SUVs.

For more than six decades, the Toyo name has proven itself on the street, in competition, and on the trail. You can find popular Toyo tires for your truck, Jeep, or SUV at 4 Wheel Parts.
