Great winch for the price. Was looking for synthetic and went with steel cable instead to save some cash. The rollers look cool on the front bumper but the cable can be difficult to re-spool. You can always swap for synthetic later. Easy install, works like a champ. Easily mounts to XRC front bumper. Might want to try to bolt winch to bumper first. But i managed to install after bumper was installed even with control box mounted in the center.

                        Hi Mark
There are no other gears available for your winch. many of the ATV winches do have a faster line speed but are very light duty. one way to help speed thing up is to decrease load. one way to do this is to try a snatch block to decrease the load on the winch. http://jo.my/s8ivpj if you hook the snatch block (pulley) to the car and rucn the cable through the block and back to the winch mount it will decrease the weight that the winch ses and speed things up. Thank You

                        Hi Nick
The XRC winches are water resistant and can handle being exposed to weather but the X2O winch is water proof. all the Smittybilt winches can handle the occasional submersion with out problems but if you are a mud guy or lots of river crossings the sealed units are a better choice. the problems are usually with the solenoids contacts corroding and water getting into the planetary sets causing rust. regular maintenance can prevent this from happening. Thank You

The Fairlead does not mount to the winch body, The faiurlead is supposed to mount to the winch plate or bumper that the winch is mounted to.if you insist on mounting the fairlesad to the winch body you can drill and tap the winch body but if you pull hard on an angle you can damage the winch. Thank You

What is the difference between the xrc 8,000 lb winch and the xrc comp series 8,000 lb other than weight, price and how much power you need?

                        Duffy-

Thanks for the inquiry. The biggest difference between the XRC8 and XRC8 Comp winches is the Comp version comes with synthetic winch line.
